Did you realise the time you spend doing regular things like walking and looking for your car keys adds up to years, severely impacting the time you could be spending on business critical actions?
According to a study by Bridges Business Consultancy, the average man with a lifespan of 77.6 years spends a third of it asleep, 10 years watching TV, and 10 days looking for his car keys.
Out of their entire lifetime, they spend only 14.3 years at work, during which the average leader spends 66% (or more than nine years) in meetings, and another 4.86 years sitting at their desks.
That leaves leaders with only 63 seconds to plan their company’s strategy – that’s less time than it takes to order of coffee or maybe even get from your car to the office.
The report also found only 2% of managers are confident their company will achieve 80% of their strategy, and 70% of leaders spend less than a day a month reviewing their strategies.
The biggest implementation challenges the respondents identified were ensuring staff take or demonstrate different actions, aligning implementation to the company culture and gaining people’s support.
