Human Resources magazine is pleased to confirm Christian Hobson, group head of talent and learning for Standard Chartered, as a speaker at the upcoming Talent Management 2013 conference.

Hobson will sit alongside senior executives from brands such as Eli Lilly, Ericsson and L’Oreal to discuss two of the hottest talent management issues – succession planning and retention.

“Succession planning is not about planning – it is about development,” said Hobson.

“It should be simple, all about the outcome, and if it feels like a waste of time, then it probably is a waste of time.”

Hobson has spent over 20 years in the field of organisational effectiveness and leadership development. The majority of his career has been with global investment banks, where he has been responsible for recruitment, organisation development, leadership and learning and talent management.

Until May 2011, he was the global head of talent strategy and performance at Nomura International, where he was part of the team integrating the acquired Asian and European Lehman Brothers’ businesses.

Currently, Hobson is the group head of talent and learning at Standard Chartered Bank based in Singapore.

Talent Management 2013 will be held from 12-13 March at the Novotel Clarke Quay in Singapore. Go to for the full list of speakers and the event agenda.
