Engineering students identified Singapore Airlines, Google and A*Star as their top choices while those in humanities chose Google, Walt Disney and Singapore Airlines.

This is the first time Singapore Airlines has overtaken Google to become the number one employers among engineering undergraduates.

Students across the board said the most important attribute their ideal employer should possess is an understanding of people and culture, including a friendly work environment, a creative and dynamic work environment and recognising performance.

Half the undergraduate respondents also said they intend to stay in their first job for one to two years, with a third indicating they would remain for five years or more, hinting that employers’ perception that Millennials lacked loyalty is potentially misguided.

“Our survey reveals that they are not job-hoppers in nature, so what often happens in reality today is a mismatch in expectations between employers and young employees,” Ström said.
