Building a healthy pipeline of leaders who are able to pioneer and head learning development is easier said than done.
And while senior executives might value and know the importance of consistently developing and training employees, they might not be aware of everything they can do to help build a strong learning culture.
Belinda Liu, head of leadership, talent and learning APJ at Philips, says besides being involved in the planning and execution of training programmes with respective HR heads, sincere communication between bosses and employees will help to facilitate a learning culture.
“We need leaders to be open and honest about their own learning journeys,” she says.
“Be willing to share something personal about their own development experiences, the lessons they have learned along the way, and even some of the more painful experiences when they had consciously made a choice to learn and grow.”
