It has been reported that approximately 3% of 1,400 Nestlé staff in Singapore (about 42) will no longer hold their jobs, following the implementation of new processes and ways of working.
Speaking to Human Resources, a spokesperson from Nestlé commented: “Nestlé has been operating in Singapore for more than 100 years. We are committed to being a business that thinks long-term and continuously evolve over the years to implement new processes and ways of working so that we remain agile and efficient in a rapidly changing business environment. This will enable us to focus more on our consumers and innovation.”
The spokesperson also highlighted that the status of Nestlé Singapore as a market remains unchanged and it will continue to operate and contribute to the Nestlé Group.
Additionally, Nestlé has engaged an “experienced outplacement agency” to assist with personalised one-on-one career coaching and counselling for affected employees. According to the spokesperson, affected staff will also be provided with “expert support from these consultants on assisting in résumé and social media profile creation, social media search strategy, connections with other job opportunities and connecting employees with recruiters”.
“We are going beyond advisory assistance to make practicable efforts to place affected employees in their next job – every affected employee will receive outplacement support to help find new employment,” commented the spokesperson.
As for the business functions affected, the spokesperson commented: “This initiative involves a few functions. To protect the privacy of affected employees, we decline to disclose the exact departments that are affected save to say that affected employees come from across our operations in Singapore.”
