A former manager at the Tsuen Wan branch of jewelry chain Luk Fook was sentenced yesterday at the Tsuen Wan Magistrates’ Courts after he was found guilty on two accounts of indecent assault.
The defendant Fung Chi On, 48 years old, had been held in custody over the past 14 days, and had tendered his resignation from the company.
Yesterday, he was sentenced to 240 hours of community service, as reported in the Oriental Daily.
Fung was charged with indecent assault for touching a married female subordinate on her waist area at the workplace from April to August this year.
After being sexually harassed for the first time, the victim did not report to the police because she was worried she might lose her job but after repeated harassment from the defendant, she decided to alert the police.
Fung presented several appeal letters to magistrate Rita So Ka Yin, including one by his wife who described him as a caring husband.
A board member from Luk Fook also wrote an appeal letter for Fung, saying that he had been a great employee during his 20 years of service with the company.
