JobStreet.com’s Job Outlook Report found 44% of Singaporean employees did not receive any salary increment last year.
Surveying 400 Singaporean employees across various industries, it further revealed the top five industries with the highest salary increment with or without a promotion.
The hotel / hospitality (23.6%) industry was found to be the top when it comes to salary increments that come with a promotion, followed by the food and beverage / catering / restaurant (18.3%), and manufacturing / production (17.1%) industries.
When it comes to an increment without a promotion, the consumer products / FMCG (39.6%) industry came out top. In second place was the construction / building / engineering (14.1%) industry, while third went to the accounting / audit / tax services (13.3%) industry.
JobStreet’s survey also revealed slight improvements in job-market sentiment, with only 5% of hirers expecting a total hiring freeze – down from 21% last year. Key intentions for hiring include replacing or filling essential positions.
Additionally, the survey found that the top three benefits employees want were health insurance, medical coverage for family and flexible working plans.
