HR professionals are still in high demand, as compensation and benefits (C&B), learning and development (L&D), talent acquisition and retention remain key concerns for local companies.
According to the latest Kelly Services employment outlook and salary guide for 2012/2013, a C&B director with more than 10 years’ experience, and responsibilities including analysing market trends and benchmarking, can expect to earn upwards of $15,000 a month.
L&D managers with five to eight years’ experience – who are responsible for mapping out training and career development programmes – receive $5,500 a month on average, while L&D directors take home on average more than $10,000.
Dhirendra Shantilal, senior vice president of APAC at Kelly Services, said human capital remains a “valuable asset in a fiercely competitive globalised world”.
Employees in Singapore no longer depend on financial rewards as a pull factor, with 75% believing personal growth and fulfilment to be more important. In C&B, 51% believe a job switch is important for career and skill development.
“We are seeing a shift in the way that companies approach compensation and benefits with many recognising that they must find creative solutions that offer more than just a competitive remuneration scheme in order to keep hold of critical skill sets within an organisation,” Shantilal said.
Other hot jobs within the HR sector are HR managers, for both local and regional roles, as well as HR officers and senior executives.
Across Singapore, professionals such as accountants, auditors, and credit managers will remain in high demand, along with bankers and engineers.
