How Hyatt & GE created their learning cultures

With technology and workforce behaviour changing, how can L&D consistently add bottom line value and deliver a sustainable impact? For over 10 years Sri Vidya has built a sensational career around developing people and promoting a culture of learning in the electronics, manufacturing and cement industries. As the country HR manager for GE in Malaysia, Vidya is in charge of setting and leading the human capital agenda for the company and working with the company’s business leaders, the human resources team and government bodies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources and mass communications from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a master’s in business administration from Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Kris Herring wants to build innovative learning cultures that add value to organisations and allow people to reach their personal and professional goals. He brings over 20 years of experience in the service and hospitality industry to his current role as director of learning for Hyatt International, where he oversees the learning functions of over 80 operational hotels, and all pre-opening properties.

Beth Davies’ leadership philosophy is anchored on “invisible learning and development,” which embeds learning in the flow of work and empowers employees to take charge of their development. Before becoming the director for learning & development at Tesla, Davies worked with companies such as Microsoft, Apple, and Gap, and as a consultant for companies like Visa, Oracle, and Tommy Hilfiger. Davies holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a law degree from Stanford University.
