One of the foremost private medical care centres in Malaysia, Sunway Medical Centre, has confirmed its participation at Employee Benefits Asia, Asia’s biggest regional conference dedicated to compensation and benefits strategy.

Organised by Human Resources magazine, the 2-day event looks at the most critical trends, challenges and strategies in the area of compensation and benefits with local and international perspectives on talent management and overall people strategy.

“Healthy and happy employees increase productivity, thus help in developing a more feasible and sustainable organisation,’ said Dr Lim Pek Yean, resident medical officer, Wellness Centre for Sunway Medical Centre.

Dr Lim’s presentation will touch on the healthcare and wellbeing programmes implemented in Malaysia and will discuss whether or not they are sufficient. In addition, attendees will learn how healthcare and wellbeing programmes can impact change management and improve business results, and at the same time, how they can improvise these programmes with lower costs while sustaining employees’ engagement and retention.

Dr Lim Pek Yean obtained her basic medical degree in 2004 from University Sains Malaysia, gaining experience by treating a wide range of medical diseases in the trauma and emergency department of busy government hospitals. In 2008, she joined the private sector to explore her interest in health screening, working for several leading healthcare groups before joining Sunway Medical Centre. Lim is a certified occupational safety and health doctor and has helped workers from various industries. With her excellent credentials in wellness screening, she has been actively involved in public education regarding the importance of health screening and primary prevention.

Established in November 1999, Sunway Medical Centre is an Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) accredited private hospital with a total of 365 beds, 130 consultation suites and 12 operation theatres. Sunway Medical is embarking on an extensive expansion plan – Tower C is set to complete its first phase in the third quarter of 2016 and will see the opening of the new Cancer & Radiosurgery Centre and Nuclear Medicine Centre, which also houses other Centres of Excellence such as Digestive Health Centre and Dialysis Centre.

The second phase, with a 10-level tower, housing single room wards and consultation suites, is expected to be completed by mid-2017. This will set Sunway Medical Centre as one of the leading private medical centres in the country with a combined total of about 600 beds and 170 consultation suites.

Employee Benefits Asia 2016 is open to C-level executives, C&B directors and managers, benefits and rewards experts, and top HR leaders from major companies in the region.

Employee Benefits Asia 2016 will hold keynote presentations, case study analysis, interactive panel discussions, and networking sessions. These activities will be led by multi-awarded thought leaders and subject matter experts from various industries.
