Employers concerned about National Job Bank

More than half of employers in Singapore feel the new National Job Bank mandate will not help with their recruitment process.

Last month, the Ministry of Manpower’s announced a new regulation which requires companies to list available job postings paying less than S$12,000 a month on a National Job Bank for two weeks, before being allowed to offer the position to a foreigner.

However, according to a survey of 100 local employers by, one third believe the new rules will only slow down their recruitment process, while 54% said it will hinder their hiring plans.

Employers in construction, manufacturing and SME industries are expected to be the hardest hit, as jobs in those sectors have generally been unpopular with locals.
