Facebook topped career site Glassdoor’s “Best places to work” for the third time when it took honours on the 2018 list released last week.
“I’m a 55-year-old working in a company where the average age is 28, and I’ve never been happier,” one employee wrote in a review of Facebook on Glassdoor. The Social media company received an overall approval rating of 4.6. With 93% of reviewers saying they would recommend working there to a friend and 98% approved of the CEO.
Facebook also made the list of The top 10 employers in Hong Kong.
Now in its tenth year, the “Employees Choice Awards” are judged by and winners decided entirely on employee feedback.
Bain & Company who won in 2017 came in 2nd and Boston Consulting Group, 3rd.
Bain & Company has topped the list on three other occasions (2017, 2013 and 2011) and came second in 2018, 2016, 2015 and in 2009. It has never been lower than 4th. Bain & Company is a management consulting firm and opened its Hong Kong office in 1991. CEO Bob Bechek has an approval rating of 99% and was rated the top CEO to work for in 2016 on Glassdoor.
In-N-Out Burger (4), Google (5), Lululemon (6), HubSpot (7), World Wide Technology (8), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (9) and Ultimate Software (10) round out the top 10.
There are also 40 newcomers to the list of top 100 employers and this year. Those include makers of World of Warcraft Blizzard Entertainment who joined the list at 28 and scored a 4.4, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants ranked 37, T-Mobile 79 and adidas 93.
The list is made up of companies across a variety of industries from tech to healthcare, retail and consulting.
The only three companies to have made the list every year since its conception in 2008. Bain & Company, Google and Apple coming in 2nd, 5th and 84th respectively.
One employee listed the benefits of working at Google in a review that included amazing Christmas parties to the Waldorf Astoria and NY Public Library, free meals, ski trips, large bonuses and equity grants and Friday afternoons that include food, alcohol and an opportunity to talk to top executives.
