Developing a strong learning environment for talent

Forward-thinking organisations know that in order to survive the battle for talent, they must work to provide development programmes for employees.

But how can you ensure your learning programmes are targeted enough to generate greater business agility and remain as key tool in attracting and retaining talent?

Cristine Rumble, vice president of learning and development Asia Pacific at Accor, says implementing a successful learning environment begins with an open and transparent sharing of information via formal and informal means.

“A company culture that embraces a coach approach to leadership, at all levels of the organisation, will encourage greater information sharing, develops employee empowerment and builds a climate of trust,” she says.

“Coaching provides a mechanism for leaders to understand the potential of their team members ensuring that development programmes are targeted and effective.”

Rumble will speak in depth about aligning L&D with business needs at Talent Management 2014.

Joining her on this panel discussion are Susan Lansing, vice president of global learning & development at DFS Group and Nora Abd Manaf, group chief human capital officer at Maybank.

“Talent development programmes need to have transparent career goals in which participants are coached and guided to achieve at the end of the programme,” says Rumble.

To hear more, join Talent Management 2014, taking place across March 17-19 at the InterContinental Hotel in Singapore.
