The Coca-Cola Co will be cutting thousands of of jobs worldwide as part of its recently-announced multi-year productivity initiative.
According to a statement, Coca-Cola will be redesigning their operating model to simplify their structures and increase growth and productivity of their global business.
This will result in around 1,600 to 1,800 employees being laid off from their positions in North America and internationally in the coming months.
According to the China Daily, a spokesperson confirmed Coca-Cola China’s operations will be mostly affected from this redesign.
“We do not take decisions about job impacts lightly,” a statement read. “We have committed that we will ensure fair, equitable and compassionate treatment of our people throughout this process.”
The company stated it began the process of informing associates in the US and in some international locations about the impacts to their departments.
“Productivity is an ongoing process at The Coca-Cola Company. We will continuously look for ways to streamline our business and drive growth as our business and our operating model evolve.”
