54% of APAC staff are aware of company vision and mission

Employees in Asia Pacific are relatively familiar with their company’s vision, mission, and cultural values, compared to the global average. 54% of APAC employees say they can recite them, while globally only 32.5% say the same.

These are some of the findings of the 2017 Employee Engagement Report by TINYpulse. The report is based on the anonymous responses from 1 million employees at over 1,000 companies worldwide.

Being aware of the company vision, mission, and values, however, does not necessarily mean staff feel connected to them, as APAC employees score below the average with regards to workplace happiness.

Speaking to CNBC about the findings, Ketti Salemme, communications manager at TinyPulse, revealed that 28% of employees in Asia Pacific reported feeling happy at work, while 30% of employees around the world said the same.

“There is not a huge difference, but it does show that [the] majority of employees, [both] in and out of the Asia Pacific region, do not feel happy at work,” Salemme told CNBC.

One of the matters impacting people’s workplace happiness globally is internal communications. Worldwide, on average only just over half (55%) of staff give interactions with their boss a 9 out of 10 or higher. In APAC, the number drops to 40%.
