Less than a year ago CareerBuilder and Google partnered to create a new search feature that allows job seekers to access millions of job postings across job boards, social networks and recruitment sites.
But how do you catch the attention of the Google algorithms to improve your ranking and get noticed? CareerBuilder proposes these three tips to optimise your job when it comes to showing up in searches.
1. Money talks
Recruiting is a bit of tango and it has been become common practice to leave salary negotiations until the end of the interview process. However, stating salary upfront is big draw card and one of the best ways to get noticed. Nowadays, job seekers are demanding salary transparency. Moreover, Google is paying close attention to the data you add. In fact, the Google for Jobs feature will list two separate salary points; precise job salary data and estimated job salary data. The precise salary option for companies to fill out is to give a specific remuneration range, choose to leave it blank and expect decreased ranking performance and exposure. Estimated job salary data will appear automatically based on market rates that companies can not edit or change.
2. Where to find you
Job seekers are increasingly using their phones when job searching and using maps as part of their search. People want to see”jobs near them” and be able to see the precise location and that means adding a street address. In fact, according to CareerBuilder builder just under 15% of job postings contain street addresses on their site. Without an address, you can expect poor performance and in the future, AI will be used to infer addressed to improve the user experience.
Is your logo not showing up correctly in the posting? Well, Google doesn’t actually use logos from the posting itself but rather their own internal “knowledge” bank of your company.
